Wanna Pay For Your Email?
Yahoo, as we all know is trying very hard to compete against search giants Google and Microsoft. Recently Yahoo decided to partner with Microsoft and soon announced the launch of Centmail.
According to yahoo, people will pay to use the email service. What makes them think that out of all the free services people will pay a cent per email? I don’t find anything special in Centmail, except that it carries a fancy stamp. And where does all the money go? Charity! Yes, Yahoo lets you choose any charity organization to which you would like to donate the fee that you pay. It sounds like Microsoft rather than Yahoo.
Whatever it is, it will be a good thing to see if Yahoo can pull this off. They seem to be going into loss each day. Now they expect a cent per email to save the sinking ship? Whatever happened to the charity stuff??? Maybe, a good cover up eh?
When people read emails to get 1 cent in the GPT industry, then I highly doubt they will pay 1 cent to send a email! Not just that, the centmail id’s don’t seem to be half as good as the free ones, something like name@centmail.net. Woah! If that’s true, we think people will rather switch to gmail or hotmail instead of going for id that SUCKS.
As far as the spam issue (which Yahoo believes will be controlled since users have to pay for each email) is concerned, we think it’s not possible. Comon, you could send email’s from any of the free service. So what about the user base? Will it be half the size of yahoo mail? Yet to see these happen. Charity or no charity, no one would like to pay for every email they send. Wonder if this could be the last nail on the coffin for Yahoo!

That is the stupidest thing i have ever heard of a company doing. Who the hell is going to pay a penny per email just to give to charity??
