Should Joe Wilson Shut Up?

If you have been following American politics for the past few months you probably know all about the Town Hall meetings where irate citizens have heckled the government representatives who were supposed to be answering their questions. Well, in a scene very reminiscent of these uncalled for outbursts, on Wednesday night, Republican representative Joe Wilson interrupted President Obama’s speech addressing healthcare by screaming “You Lie”, derailing the conversation and generally making an ass out of himself. You would expect this kind of behavior from some backwoods Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck addicted GOP assh*le, but this sort of behavior from an elected official is completely inappropriate, and Rep. Joe Wilson really needs to shut the f*ck up.

The reason that Joe Wilson screamed at the leader of the free world is this: President Obama stated that under the new healthcare plan, illegal immigrants would not receive health insurance. This is about as true as it gets. At this point there are over thousands of completely legal citizens who can’t even get health insurance, so how the hell are illegal immigrants supposed to get it?

The Democrats handled this situation with style and grace. Nancy Pelosi could have banged down her gavel and reprimanded Wilson right then and there, but she didn’t. Democrats could have sanctioned the hell out of Wilson, rendering him powerless, but they were forgiving. This is a sea change of policy. Had some Democrat screamed “You Lie” at George W. Bush or Dick Cheney in the last administration, they probably would have been tarred, feather, run out of Washington, and then tortured to death in a secret at an undisclosed location.

As if the Republicans could not make themselves out to be bigger assh*les, this sort of behavior from Joe Wilson is doing just that. The death of the Republican party is mercifully around the corner if they keep acting like this, and to be quite honest, let em keep putting nails in their own coffins.
