Save Trees, Save Your Ass! -I
The relationship between humankind and mother earth is much like that of a destructive marriage, where humankind is the abusive husband, and mother earth is the abused shell of a wife that sticks through all the horrific treatment because one day, she knows, he’ll die. The problem with that is that she knows he will wind up dead. Will… but why not right now? She couldn’t leave in the middle of the night. Oh no, no. He could follow her, find her, and destroy what she cares about…but she could kill him. Oh yes, she could. And that’s pretty much what’s happening in our relationship with the planet earth.
We have pillaged, destroyed and altered the world to the point where it has starting revolting against us. We think we’re so clever with our vaccines and anti-bacterial soap – but mother nature is patient. For every one of our vaccines, our viruses mutate and grow stronger. For all of our anti-bacterial soaps, our bodies become all that more weak. And mother nature can wait. She’s been waiting for some time, and she’s finally begun to see that we are at our weakest.
Imagine, if you will, that poor abused wife waking up to find her husband passed out on the floor. Half exhilarated and half frightened, she whispers his name. No response. Heart pounding faster, she gently nudges his shoulder. Still no response. Finally she checks his pulse, it’s weak at best. Ever so quietly, she tiptoes away to the garage, grabs a hammer, and goes for it.
Theoretically, he could live through it, but he will never be the same. He will become reliant on her, and if not her, his family, and if not them, the government. The point is that we as human beings will be pushed to the brink of extinction, not just because of ourselves, but by the earth itself. We are becoming sick, and we don’t mean just physically. Mentally and emotionally, we’re sick….. very sick. We’re sexually sick. Our children are being born without innocence. These things we’ve done to ourselves, along with telling ourselves, “Well, it’s okay. We have the technology to fix it or in case if technology fails, the next generation will take care of it!”.
