Racial Discrimination An Issue

The sense of discrimination between oneself and others is the worst form, as it creates nothing but unpleasant. These words were said by Nobel Peace Prize winner Dalai Lama. Though, he won the prize and said these beautiful lines, we haven’t paid much attention to it, have we?

Racism or also known as racial discrimination is on the gradual rise in the United States of America. According to the United Nations, there is no difference between ethnic discrimination and racial discrimination. Though, there are various definitions for the word racism or racial discrimination, it generally refers to race-based prejudice, discrimination, violence and oppression. Also, it roots from a belief that all members of a particular racial group have some characteristics or abilities, which distinguishes it as being inferior or superior to other racial groups. Also, some believe that one’s own race is superior and all the right in the world to dominate others.

However, United States of America’s Human Genome Project contradicts it by saying that  most of the mapping of human DNA till date shows no distinct genetic basis to racial types. Hence, the concept of  racial characteristics is simply illogical. Also, they have announced that skin color is just a matter of science and has no connection with one’s racial abilities. In spite, such announcements made by US government, researchers see a great amount of unconscious biased feelings rooted in the people of United States of America.

Generally, Asian Americans, African Americans and some other immigrant groups are the most who suffer from lashes of racial discrimination. Mainly because historically, there were slaves and labor for agricultural development in the early 19th century. However, many prominent African American writers and entertainers came together pushing for civil rights in the twentieth century. Eventually, US government came out with an order to prohibit racial discrimination in the American armed forces. Today, America has its first black president in the form of Barack Obama.

Though, racial segregation is declining compare to its earlier days, we still see United States of America as a residentially segregated society in which blacks and whites stay in different neighborhoods based on quality.  To avoid such racial disputes, US government has come out with laws related to racial segregation and discrimination, to help the victims of such an attack.  Affirmative action programs are being introduced to provide education and employment to women of minority groups, which can benefit them in the long time.

The Master race, the One and only True Church, The 3rd Reich, The New World Order…. always the same Rhetoric, just different A??holes trying to skate up hill on the Bodies of the Innocent as the following Quote Demonstrates: — Our race is the Master Race. We are divine gods on this planet. We are as different from the inferior races as they are from insects. In fact, compared to our race, other races are beasts and animals, cattle at best. Other races are considered as human excrement. Our destiny is to rule over the inferior races. Our earthly kingdom will be ruled by our leader with a rod of iron. The masses will lick our feet and serve us as our slaves.” – Menachem Begin – Israeli Prime Minister 1977-1983

Nobody is born racist. We get racism from friends and parents. Most Racism comes from religion-Christian fundamentalism. You can see most Republicans are Christian fundamentalists. Republicans or Christian fundamentalist have used the Bible to avoid inter-mingling with non-white people. They believe Noah’s story in the Bible that Africans were cursed by Noah. Christian fundamentalists believe non-whites should be intellectually inferior to whites and therefore should remain sub-humans or slaves. Here is the problem. When Christian fundamentalists find that Blacks or other non-whites are just as smart as them, they are disappointed and may turn to violence.
I went to almost all white university. Every time we had a test, people in my class would come to ask me how I scored. To their disappointment they found I was as good them. This frustrated them especially when I finished top of the class. I remember on two occasions parents of two classmates came to see me to prove themselves that I was black.
After college, I then took state exam. As minority, the Affirmative Action officer told me that I had to score top five to be selected. Two hundred people including me took a state test. I ranked highest or first on the exam. When I showed the Affirmative Action Officer my score he could not believe that I ranked highest. Believe it or not the affirmative action officer was black. He confessed to me that he had been told that blacks could not score highest. In any case I got the job.

At one time I had a case in the federal court. I sued my supervisor for not promoting me after scoring highest on exam. A white male, 6′ 2” was promoted for the job. We went to federal court. At one time the federal court judge, a white female asked me: “ Do you mean you scored higher than him? ( the white male). I said: “ Yes.” The judge then said: “I do not believe it”. The defense attorney then told the federal judge: “Yes your honor, he ranked highest on exam.” Judge: I cannot believe it.”

Then I took a part-time job as cashier with a private company. I could not believe how many times I was stalked to be audited. After sixth audits, the auditor asked me if I was really a black man. Why? because most black people who had my job before had been fired for stealing money.

To conclude: None of us is both racist. We acquire racism from parents, religion and also friends. Republicans and conservators should be careful how they apply their religious beliefs
