India Calling! – I
“If we buy a computer it will go to India.” Lifted of a Marc Faber comment on US economy in regards to where the money goes when Americans make a purchase. Here’s the Indian perspective.
I wonder if the worlds gone crazy or are people going mad. You may not agree but the truth is bizarre. My friend’s cousin got a job, something that bought a smile on everyone’s face. However, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Here you are, planning and preparing to settle down in a new city, and along the recession hype. So, now, you still have an appointment letter, only it’s been postponed by a year. All you can do is offer your two pence bits and say, its fine, it’s not the end of the world, and there are other jobs. Really, are you serious, there are other jobs? I mean there was a time we complained the British gave us education and took away everything else but the taking away hasn’t stopped, has it?
Everyone talks about recession, and its’ almost synonymous which job cuts. There’s no slowdown any longer, it’s total overhauling. India, I was told was to become a strong contender in regards to being self sufficient and developed. Will someone explain where all the help and pumping money into the Indian economy disappeared? I mean, I know all the money that went into making roads here disappeared in potholes and slum development money was guzzles in by more slums. I’m assuming recession in regards to BPO jobs will result in more glass front call centers. NYSE crashes, and the ripples are felt in Indian cities. This is just the onset I presume, because now it’s a little unclear, the call center (BPO) jobs seem stable, it’s the IT and ITES jobs that seem threatened. So maybe someone was right when they said education may not be that important.
