Americans Dying For Healthcare!
There are nearly 50 million Americans out there that have absolutely no Healthcare coverage whatsoever, and some people are risking everything, including their lives, just to be able to go to a Doctor. In the US constitution, there is a clause that guarantees “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”, but for about 1/6th of the population, there is no guarantee to the most basic health services, and if you want to go see a doctor without going completely bankrupt, you are pretty much screwed.
Take the case of Army SPC Greg Missman, who had been in the armed services for nearly 11 years until he went back into the private sector as a computer consultant. After being laid off from his job, he and his family lost their healthcare insurance as well. In order for his family to be able to afford going to the hospital, he re-enlisted in the army so that his family would be covered again. He lasted about one week in Afghanistan until one day his convoy got hit, and he died. This sort of situation is quite common in the American military. John Roberts of CNN states that “”Pentagon spokesman said there is no way to count how many soldiers have joined the armed services to get health care benefits. As for Greg Missman, his son will continue to receive military health insurance so this soldier’s sacrifice will live on.”
Millions of Americans are literally dying to be able to afford healthcare. This is one of the greatest miscarriages of justice our country has ever seen. The fact that our healthcare system is run for profit is absolutely outrageous. What it says to the American people is that if you do not have X amount of money, you should just go f*ck off and die because we sure as shit aren’t going to take care of you if there is no profit involved for the insurance companies. Conservatives all around the country talk like socialism is tantamount to being a Nazi, but if that’s what it takes to get healthcare for me and my family, I’ll stop typing and start goose stepping right this minute.
