America Legalizes Guns In Bars!!
The Tennessee House of Representatives has recently passed a bill that would make it legal to carry firearms into bars, opening the way for assh*les to drunkenly shoot the hell out of people all across the state. This bill, supported by the NRA, goes against all common sense and public opinion and will most certainly do far more harm than any good that it intended to do, whatever that might be.
Now, we are all about the right for citizens to be able to purchase and carry firearms, but just like the fact that it’s probably a pretty stupid idea to let people bring guns on planes, there are certain places that people shouldn’t be allowed to carry their guns. A bar would be an excellent example. Just think of all the sloppy drunk jerks cruising bars looking for a fight. Now those same assh*les are free to bring their guns to the fight, just in case, you know, Al Qaeda tries to take over Gene’s Shimmy Shack off of route 11.
The fact that this Bill passed through the house simply shows that organizations and lobbyists hold way more power than the people. The cops were against this bill, the people were against this bill, but that doesn’t matter because people representing the NRA have way more money and influence than the cops or the people of the state of Tennessee. Hopefully in this case we can have a reverse Proposition 9 situation going on here. Instead of the Mormons sticking it to gays who want to marry and overturning their right to do so, the public can turn this law around and stick it to the NRA and overturn the law that states that you can carry deadly weapons into bars.

I am merely requesting a rational justification for concerns regarding this recent alteration in law. Many stated speculations regarding in this legal alteration, such as that of the author of the above piece, ignore the fact that the consumption of alcohol while in possession of a firearm will itself remain a criminal act, thus the concern regarding individuals who are both armed and intoxicated does not appear to be justified.

Boy, where do i begin… This law shall benefit bar owners which were not allowed to keep firearms in their business to protect it. This law shall benefit me because while I am not afraid of having to use my 9mm to protect myself in a bar, I am worried about on the way out to the parking lot late at night(2,3,4am) when its me and my fiance going home. Before I would have to keep the gun in the car. Lot of good that will do me when I get attacked halfway to it. If a good majority (90% and up) of the population is law abiding, good people… then what is there to worry about? each time gun control laws are enforced, crime goes up. Its simply a tool politicians use when they have nothing else to use for their campaign. they convice the public that guns are destroying society and dangerous criminals have them so we need to make laws to protect the public from guns adn criminals, so lets ban guns from these places and eventually ban guns…. too bad Criminals don’t follow laws…

Don’t forget, these carry laws uniformly state that it is illegal to drink and carry at the same time. Those who carry are to be in complete control of their faculties.
If you are going to break that part of the law and drink, than you are probably going to carry anyway.
Once again, this law will only affect the law abiding person whose presence would have made it safer for everyone.

If your concern is justified, then you should be able to demonstrate that “drunken brawls” have frequently resulted in “bloody killings” in states that have never prohibited the carrying of concealed deadly weapons into establishments where alcohol is sold for consumption upon the premises. Please do so.
